Rudyard Kipling
* Bombay, India, 30 December 1865 - † London, England, 18 January 1936
English author, winner of the 1907 Nobel Prize in Literature for his "power of observation, originality of imagination, virility of ideas and remarkable talent for narration". He is buried in the Poets' Corner in the South Transept of Westminster Abbey.
An essay about Kipling and his meaning as a poet has been written by George Orwell in 1942.
